In the course of coordinating efforts to expand participation in social insurance and health insurance, PVI Tay Nam Insurance initiated the “Weekend Café” model — a new, flexible and practical approach that has helped bring social security policies closer to people at the grassroots level. After two years of effective implementation, the model has demonstrated a clear spillover effect, becoming one of the notable highlights in PVI Tay Nam Insurance’s coordinated efforts to develop social insurance and health insurance participation.
Unlike large-scale communication conferences, which are often organised in a centralised format, the “Weekend Café” model adopts a more friendly and accessible approach. The programme is held in an open and informal setting, enabling local residents to directly exchange views, raise questions and receive specific advice on voluntary social insurance, household health insurance and related benefits during their participation.
Guided by the spirit of “small cost, great impact,” the model aims to optimise organisational resources while still delivering practical outreach results, in line with people’s daily lives and community routines.
Through this initiative, the PVI Tay Nam Insurance team has clearly demonstrated its role as a companion to social insurance agencies in communication, advocacy and participant development. Beyond conveying policy information, consultants also listen to people’s practical concerns, explain issues in easy-to-understand language and provide advice tailored to the conditions and needs of each individual and household.

A key highlight of the “Weekend Café” model lies in its direct interaction and high level of practicality. Local residents do not merely receive one-way information; instead, they are able to discuss specific issues such as contribution levels, participation methods, health insurance benefits for medical examination and treatment, the roadmap for joining voluntary social insurance, as well as common situations that may arise when accessing policy benefits. This approach makes communication content more accessible while building trust through direct dialogue and consultation.
Throughout its implementation, the model has recorded positive results. The programme has not only helped raise public awareness of social security policies, but has also delivered concrete outcomes in expanding participation. This demonstrates that when communication activities are renewed in a people-centred manner and grounded in practical needs, implementation results become more visible and sustainable.
Notably, from PVI Tay Nam Insurance’s initial initiative, the “Weekend Café” model has been recognised by Viet Nam Social Security and developed into a model for nationwide implementation. The scaling up of an approach originating from grassroots practice across the entire system reflects its strong applicability, while also affirming PVI Insurance’s proactive and innovative spirit in coordinating with the social insurance sector.

The success of the “Weekend Café” model has also helped highlight the image of PVI Insurance as an organisation that not only participates in expanding social insurance and health insurance coverage, but also actively seeks approaches that are better suited to people’s everyday lives. Rather than placing emphasis on formality, the model focuses on practical effectiveness, understanding and the ability to accompany the community over the long term.
In the coming period, PVI Insurance will continue to promote its role as a participant development support organisation, strengthen coordination with social insurance agencies at all levels, and further advance flexible and practical consultation models. Through initiatives such as the “Weekend Café”, PVI Insurance expects to continue making positive contributions to the goal of expanding social insurance and health insurance coverage, spreading the humane policies of the Party and the State, while affirming its image as a professional and responsible insurance enterprise that always stands alongside the community.
