Beyond compensation benefits in the event of a collision, roadside assistance has become an increasingly important consideration for many vehicle owners when choosing an insurance policy. In response to this growing demand, PVI Insurance has integrated the Roadside Assistance (RSA) service operated by Allianz Partners into its Motor Own Damage Insurance package for selected vehicle models, extending support for customers facing unexpected incidents while on the road.
As the number of privately owned vehicles continues to rise rapidly, vehicle protection is no longer limited to compensation for accidents, collisions or physical damage. Today’s car owners are also placing greater emphasis on receiving timely assistance when confronted with unexpected roadside incidents, such as a flat battery, a punctured tyre, running out of fuel, locking the keys inside the vehicle or experiencing a mechanical breakdown.
Recognizing this need, PVI Insurance has partnered with Allianz Partners to introduce Roadside Assistance (RSA) as a complimentary benefit for selected vehicle models when customers purchase Motor Own Damage Insurance, subject to the applicable terms and conditions. The service helps broaden the scope of protection by providing customers not only with financial support in the event of an insured loss, but also with practical assistance when unexpected situations arise during vehicle use.
Addressing Gaps in Support for Common Roadside Incidents
Motor Own Damage Insurance has long been regarded as an important solution for helping vehicle owners mitigate financial losses arising from risks such as accidents, collisions, fire, explosions, natural disasters or theft, subject to the policy’s coverage terms.
In practice, however, a journey may be disrupted by more than incidents that result in physical damage to the vehicle. Seemingly minor situations—such as a vehicle failing to start because of a weak battery, a punctured tyre, running out of fuel or leaving the keys locked inside the car—can also leave drivers stranded and uncertain about how to respond.

Many vehicle owners still assume that purchasing Motor Own Damage Insurance means they will receive assistance in every type of roadside incident. In practice, however, situations such as a flat battery, a punctured tyre, running out of fuel or locking the keys inside the vehicle may not always be covered by conventional roadside assistance services.
Without an established assistance contact, vehicle owners may have to search for a rescue provider themselves, endure prolonged waiting times or incur additional towing, repair and transportation costs. These challenges can become even more concerning when an incident occurs at night, in a remote area or under adverse weather conditions.
Against this backdrop, integrating RSA benefits into PVI Insurance’s Motor Own Damage Insurance product represents a necessary extension of protection. It enables customers to access assistance at the time an incident occurs, rather than relying solely on compensation after a loss has been sustained.
Nine RSA Benefits Supporting Vehicle Owners on the Road
Customers who purchase PVI Insurance’s Motor Own Damage Insurance for eligible vehicle models will receive a complimentary package of RSA roadside assistance benefits. These benefits are designed to facilitate the prompt handling of common roadside incidents, minimize disruption and help customers remain more in control throughout their journeys.
Key benefits include:
● 24/7 emergency assistance hotline: The roadside assistance hotline operates around the clock, including weekends, public holidays, the Lunar New Year holiday and late-night hours. Customers may request emergency assistance an unlimited number of times while the benefit remains valid, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
● On-site roadside assistance: Upon receiving a request, the assistance centre will assess the vehicle’s condition and location before dispatching an appropriately qualified technician to provide support.
● Battery jump-start assistance: If the vehicle is unable to start because of a weak or discharged battery, a technician will provide an on-site jump-start to help the vehicle resume operation.
● Spare tyre replacement: If a tyre is punctured or damaged, customers will receive assistance in fitting the spare tyre available in the vehicle, helping to reduce waiting time and resume the journey as soon as possible.
● Complimentary towing for up to 50 kilometres: If the vehicle remains unable to continue after on-site assistance, it will be towed to a repair facility or another location selected by the customer, within the limits specified under the benefit.
● Assistance for keys locked inside the vehicle: The service may collect a spare key from a location designated by the customer and deliver it to the stranded vehicle, within a maximum distance of 50 kilometres.
● Arrangement of a professional locksmith: If no spare key is available, the assistance centre will help connect the customer with and arrange for a professional locksmith to provide on-site support. Any costs falling outside the scope of the benefit will be communicated to the customer in advance.
● Emergency fuel delivery: If the vehicle runs out of fuel while on the road, the service will arrange for fuel to be delivered to its location. Delivery costs will be covered, while the customer will pay for the actual fuel supplied.
● Support when a breakdown occurs more than 100 kilometres from home: If the vehicle must remain at a repair facility, the customer may be eligible for one of several support options, including arranging a rental vehicle to continue the journey, providing a taxi or public transport for the return home, or assisting with hotel booking and accommodation expenses, subject to the applicable limits, terms and conditions.

Beyond providing assistance for the vehicle itself, RSA benefits also address customers’ mobility, accommodation and safety needs when a breakdown occurs during a long-distance journey. This is particularly practical for families that frequently travel between provinces or use their vehicles for extended road trips.
Commenting on this significant development, Mr. Vu Ngoc Hung, Director of PVI Insurance’s Motor Division, said:
“PVI Insurance is proud to be a pioneer in addressing the ‘blind spots’ commonly associated with traditional motor insurance in the Vietnamese market. Customers often assume that purchasing insurance is sufficient, yet when their vehicles suffer a mechanical breakdown or a technical issue unrelated to a collision, they may find themselves without support. PVI Insurance’s RSA benefit is not merely a commitment stated in a policy document; it is practical assistance delivered when customers need it most. We do not wait for a major incident before stepping in. Our aim is to help keep every kilometre of our customers’ journeys moving smoothly.”
Standardizing Roadside Assistance Processes in Line with International Standards
PVI Insurance delivers its RSA service in partnership with Allianz Partners, an organization with extensive global experience in assistance and roadside support services.
Under this partnership, requests are received, vehicle conditions are assessed, technicians are dispatched and roadside assistance is arranged through a unified operating system. Participating service providers are selected based on their technical capabilities, equipment and service quality.
Process standardization is particularly important in roadside assistance, as each incident may occur under different geographic, time and traffic conditions. Effective coordination among the assistance centre, dispatch team and roadside service providers helps reduce response times and minimizes the need for customers to contact multiple parties.
Any costs arising outside the scope of complimentary benefits will also be clearly communicated before the service is carried out. This enhances transparency and allows customers to select the most appropriate option based on the condition of the vehicle and their actual needs.
The combination of PVI Insurance’s operational capabilities in Vietnam and Allianz Partners’ experience in delivering assistance services provides a strong foundation for an insurance solution that is more closely aligned with customers’ everyday vehicle-use needs.
From Loss Compensation to End-to-End Support
The integration of RSA roadside assistance into Motor Own Damage Insurance reflects a broader shift in how insurers engage with customers.
In the past, insurance was primarily regarded as a financial compensation mechanism following an insured event. Today, customers increasingly expect practical support before, during and after an incident. The insurance experience is therefore assessed not only by the speed of claims settlement, but also by the availability of real-world assistance, convenience and the level of support provided throughout the policy lifecycle.
For selected vehicle models, customers purchasing PVI Insurance’s Motor Own Damage Insurance will receive a complimentary package of RSA benefits, subject to the programme applicable at the relevant time. This practical added value extends protection beyond conventional collision-related risks.
Through the service, customers gain access to a dedicated assistance contact in emergency situations, helping reduce the pressure of handling incidents independently, limit additional expenses and provide greater confidence on every journey.
As Vietnam’s leading non-life insurer by market share, PVI Insurance is progressively expanding its service ecosystem, enhancing the customer experience and increasing the practical value delivered through each insurance product.
Accidents and technical breakdowns are situations that no driver wishes to encounter. However, selecting an appropriate insurance solution can help vehicle owners mitigate financial losses, avoid unnecessary disruption and travel with greater peace of mind.
By combining Motor Own Damage Insurance benefits with an internationally standardized roadside assistance system, PVI Insurance aims to provide a more comprehensive protection solution—one that safeguards not only the vehicle, but also supports customers throughout every journey.
